Hello all of my lovely family members and friends,
This week has been pretty amazing. Already I have come closer to god through spiritual promptings and lessons that have been taught. I am not normally a fan of online classes because they are hard to focus on. However, I have been anxiously awaiting each class session as it comes because of how strongly I feel the spirit in each lesson.
So far I have started doing many things that have helped me feel the influence of the spirit more. I removed all distractions from my computer and phone so that I can concentrate on studying the gospel and working in my classes. I have started keeping a journal where I write about the spiritual promptings that come to my mind as I read and study the scriptures both by myself and with my MTC companion.
I am a little concerned that I may not be ready to teach by the time I get out into the field, but that is probably just because I am struggling a little bit with stringing the different parts of the lessons together. With just a little more time I should get the hang of it.
It’s very strange focusing on things in the gospel that seem simple to me, but are rather complicated to people that don’t have any knowledge of them. Having to relearn everything from the perspective of a teacher rather than a learner is much harder than I thought. My companion has been helping me with this. He was lucky enough to be chosen for a trial run of a pre MTC training course so he already has a good handle on teaching. I am truly blessed to have a companion like him.
I start teaching TRCs with my companion next week. We already have 4 TRC appointments set up so that is very exciting. I am glad to have a companion to help teach me with these because I probably wouldn’t be ready to teach a full lesson so soon after just starting the MTC.
In short, I have started adjusting to missionary life, I have a few concerns but they should be addressed as I continue to learn, and I have an amazing companion to help me out.
Sincerely,
Elder Johnson
